Internet and Society

Undergraduate course, UCLA, 2020

Students in this seminar confronted the Internet as an agglomeration of technologies and cultural narratives that pose emancipatory solutions to modern problems alongside new techniques of governance. With an eye toward differences between the US, Russian, and Chinese internets and the recent cycle of social movements that oppose them, students analyzed the technical constraints that make up the Internet today, and speculated on the social forces capable of altering their future instantiations.
